He knows that ignorance and impatience spell destruction, that in handling the living wood he needs to know its qualities and how to turn them to the best account, how to use his tools skillfully so that shapeliness will follow, and that an outburst of impatience will only land him into difficulties and possibly ruin the job.
SOLD: This rasp was an experiment to see if it would be helpful in saddling chair seats.
It didn’t work as well as I hoped, and I stuck to my scorp and travisher. And so this little curved guy has been sitting in my toolbox for many years. Wear a glove when you use it.

SOLD: This is the Lie-Nielsen dovetail saw but filed with a 16 ppi crosscut configuration. The saw was sharpened this way at the factory and is stamped to that effect on the brass back. It is ideal for fine crosscuts, especially in thin work.
Some woodworkers use this saw as an “all around” saw and cut dovetails and crosscuts with it. There is considerable historical precedent for this (see “The Joiner & Cabinet Maker.”)
I have lots and lots of saws. Time to thin the herd.

SOLD: I bought this plane when Lie-Nielsen first began producing the 4-1/2. Then I upgraded the chipbreaker when the “improved chipbreaker” became available. Then I added an A2 iron to it and a 55° frog (the original frog and iron are on other planes now and are not included with this one — sorry).
This plane is well-broken in. No apologies save for a few dings to the paint.
In recent years I’ve migrated to using much smaller smoothing planes. I know that’s not the way the world is heading now, but oh well. So I’m putting this one up for sale.

SOLD: I bought this plane at the exhortation of Rob Cosman that it would be a good plane for the “140 trick” – where you cut a shallow rabbet when dovetailing.
He was right. But my moving fillister works just as well for this trick. So here it is. This No. 140 is in perfect condition. The iron is sharp and ready to use. No rust or apologies.
This is the left-hand version without a nicker.
