Simple, clean and pleasing ‘on the bias’ perspective…the light from the window is too powerful and detracts, tighter cropping with the top edge being a straight line across middle of the window….this will take out the large and distracting open area of the wall.
The setting is great but the furniture needs to be the star of the shot. I agree with Scot about the need for a tighter crop. The wooden elephants, art deco lamp and ancient tome are all great in their own right but kind of take the eye off the main event. A simpler approach akin to what the campaign desk might have been used for (drinking copious amounts of Indian hooch, consulting maps, writing a diary or letters home) might make the desk stand out more.
Fun stuff, as honestly, all I saw was the table and the lines of the legs, the flow of the grain, the hinge, the front of the desk with the offset. Until I read the reviews above and noticed the elephant and that window.
