If you are in Atlanta, stop by Highland Woodworking for the Lie-Nielsen Hand Tool Event and say hello on Saturday. (And if you don’t dig big dumb Germans like myself, Michel Auriou is here! He’s going to demonstrate his French rasps and how they are made.)
For those of you who don’t follow my blog at Popular Woodworking Magazine, here’s a link to a short video about Highland Woodworking and why I love it so much.

I stopped by there today. I was disappointed that they didnt have your new handplane DVD in stock. You were talking with a few people, didnt want to be rude…. The dutch chest looks great in person. The table top work bench is alot smaller than I thought it would be…. but neat none the less. ( also, hand tool events are sometimes not very stroller friendly. )
More than that, they aren’t toddler friendly! I spent the whole time chasing my two year old while my 4 year lusted after a bronze #1!
Well, in all fairness, it’s something I should have done by myself… So I could really pay attention to some of the demos and talking. But, I spend so much time away from my family that I like having them with me.
It was a good event. I did not bother to ask any questions, but sat in the background and listened to a lot of folks. I certainly enjoyed speaking with Michel. I was prepared to buy a course and fine rasp and after talking about what I was doing he convinced me to only buy the fine.
Been to Highland twice. If you are too young to remember any wood stores other then Lowes or HomeDepot, you need to stop by this place and you will see why big box stores are so successful. You are treated more as an inconvenience then a customer at Highland.
Sorry I missed this Chris. I have loved Highland Hardware for 30 years or so. My kids have fond memories of times together there, and now my granddaughter does too.
