Looking a the chest sitting on those stool legs ….hummmm.
Would it be totally impractical to have 4 legs sleeved into each corner the depth that the chest is high, such that, when you get where you are going, you set the chest on a stool or chair, release each leg down and latch in place, and remove the stool or chair. i.e., an integral telescoping or folding stand? Folding legs hidden by the bottom skirt would also work, but would require more hardware to hold in place.
The cabinet makers version of a Snap-On top box. A bottom box of a height that would still allow easy access to all the tools in this box may not travel well but would be great in the shop. The chest and hardware look great.
I realize you applied a classical finish. But for me personally, I can’t rationalize covering up the nice woodworking with paint.
Hmm, I must design and build a traveler for chair making tools. The hardware really sets the chest off. Nicely done Chris!
