We just posted two bonus videos about the Swedish tool chest. These short videos, hosted by me, discuss where this chest comes from historically and also offers a tour of the finished chest with tools in it.
If you have purchased the “Make a Swedish Tool Chest” video, you should have received an email notifying you of how to watch and download them. We decided to also post them here for free so everyone can get a look.

I absolutely love the bonus videos! More from Whitney please 🙂
Your nails are near as pretty as Whitney’s love the blue color.
I screamed when I saw the claws. Iconic. 💅
Well, I’m Swedish, but even so I have to say I’m not impressed by this chest unfortunately. It’s very space inefficient. Ok – depending on your standards I guess. In my experience the Swedish tool chests and the more common carpentry tool boxes, “snickarlådor”, were typically filled with tools, more or less just tossed in there on top of each other. So traditionally, as I see it, up here tool chests were not much more than fancy moving boxes for tools. But thinking about it – I guess that counts as using space very efficiently, in a way?
If you don’t want to do such a thing, even though it’s the traditional way, there will be a big volume of nothing above the tools that sits down there on the bottom beside each other. As seen in the video. Also the flat portion on top with the drawers makes it a bit harder to reach down and pick up things at the back. The Dutch tool chest on the other hand is a master at storing a smaller tool set in an efficient and compact way, still having easy access to the most commonly used tools.
Love the nails
ooooooh!, those nails!! Okay, okay……never mind.
With her NoLA connections… Maybe Whitney can convince you to use The Meters as the background music for your next bonus video? Anyway, I guess “It ain’t no use.” I’m inspired to go build this. Really fun build series!
I love the unpainted pine tool chest at 2:14 with the big wooden handles. I love big wooden handles because they allow you to hang things there while working.
Where can I buy the drawer ring pulls?
thanks.
