We’ve just added the last of our inventory of Anthe Lump Hammers and Redneck Pencil Gauges to our store.
This is the final bit of our run of special edition Anthe hammers, which help fund our restoration of our new headquarters on Madison Avenue in Covington. We won’t be making these again.
The Redneck Pencil Gauges were a grand experiment with a lower-priced tool using scavenged parts and some MacGuyver-ing. If we offer pencil gauges again, they will be more expensive because we will mill the heads ourselves. So this is the last chance to get a 100-percent functional pencil gauge for inside and outside curves for $37.

I will happily pay 4x for a LAP fancy lad pencil marking gauge with a faceplate. just saying.
Hi, Chris!
A couple of suggestions:
Drill the pencil hole in the plain end and leave the marking pin in place.
That way you can use either the pencil for scribing or the pin for deeper marking.
You can also reverse the head and use it as a standard marking gauge.
Second, drill the pencil hole a little larger diameter and then insert a small #4 screw through the side of the beam to lock the pencil in place.
It will make it easier to insert or remove the pencil when sharpening is needed. Also, you can pull the pencil out, reverse the head (or beam) and use the gauge for marking with the pin, or scribing with the pencil.
Hope I wasn’t clear as mud on this!
Anyway, getting a lot of use out of the gauge and I appreciate they way everyone LAP thinks outside the box and works to keep costs reasonable for us average folks!
