We’ve just added a new chapter – “Sharpen Spade Bits & Augers” to the “Sharpen This” video, and sent notification to past subscribers that’s it’s available.
The original 2-1/2-hour-long video covers:
• Bench planes (jack, jointer, smoother)
• Block planes
• Bench chisels
• Mortise chisels
• Swan-neck chisels
• Router plane
• Card scrapers
• Travishers
• Moulding planes
Updates thus far include how to sharpen scorps, marking knives, the No. 49 plane and bench knives, and now spade bits and augers. We periodically add more updates when I’ve sufficiently nagged Chris enough on a given topic. (We plan to cover Spokeshaves, Gunstock Scrapers and Chair Devils, Dividers, Awls and planing stops in upcoming videos – among other tools directly related to our work.)
In the original video and the updates, Christopher Schwarz does his best to cut through the BS and show you how to quickly and effectively sharpen your tools so you can get back to the fun part: making them dull.
Those who have already bought the video get all the updates; those who buy it now and in the future will get everything available at the time of purchase, as well as all new “Sharpen This: The Video” content.

Be patient. I haven’t paid the credit-card bill on the last order, yet. It’ll happen.
Excuse me if I’ve missed it, but can you do a segment on the Stanley 80 type at some point? It might go with chair devils and gunstock scrapers, etc.
If I can find the No. 80 that I’m pretty sure is moldering in my basement…we’ll do it.
Moldering is a fun word.
Thanks.
“My Stanley No. 80 lies a-moldering in the cave,
My Stanley No. 80 lies a-moldering in the cave,
My Stanley No. 80 lies a-moldering in the cave,
But its edge takes shavings yet!”
Pure class – continuing updates on the sharpen videos. Very grateful. Thank you. Anthe donation made in appreciation.
Anyone else looking for the small donation link for the Anthe building – its on the May 1, 2023 Other Ways to Contribute to the Anthe Restoration blog post i.e.

Drawknives and gouges would be great to add to the list. Awesome series
Will these be additional chapters for the book (or ebook) too?
We have about seven more videos planned for the series
Probably not – the book is a short reference meant to teach the basics, and let you get back to work. It was never intended to be a comprehensive how to sharpen everything (but master the basics, and the rest will be a lot easier)!
False cognates: “That doesn’t auger well…” “So sharpen it.”
