We now have 1:6 / 1:8 Dovetail Templates back in stock, and we have 40 of the 1:4 Dovetail Templates for those who like a more bold look. Both are machined just down the road in Nicholasville, Ky., by Machine Time.
I’ll be using my favorite angle (1:6) this weekend as I teach six folks to make a dovetailed Shaker tray.
Which have you made more of, shaker trays or toolboxes? You should have some sort of trophy for each.
How do you attach the bottom on the tray
Does the angle on dovetails really matter? What’s your take on different ratios?
It’s aesthetics (up to a point). I have seen dovetails that approach a 1:1 slope in old furniture. Make what looks good to you, and it will survive just fine.
