Some quick items – none of which are important enough for a stand-alone blog entry.
- Anonymous blog comments. We don’t allow them. Period. During the last year, I have gotten lax about this. Because of a glitch, our blogging software made me approve every comment, and in the crush, I let anonymous ones slip through. No more. Please use your real name and email address (your email address is not published). One of the many things wrong with the internet is the cowards who hide behind false names or who post anonymously. Anonymous comments (in the woodworking area) are always low in quality and high in false outrage.
- The Lost Art Press Holiday Open Day is a go! From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec., 11, we will open our doors to all vaccinated visitors (for masks, we will follow the CDC guidelines when that day arrives). We will have our full line of books, free Lost Art Press yardsticks, plus blemished books and tools for 50 percent off (cash only on blemished books). Also, as per every year, we will have the “clock” on display in the machine room. Ask to see it. Our storefront is at 837 Willard St., Covington, KY 41011.
- We have a free-for-all, ask-us-anything livestream scheduled for 3 p.m. Eastern on Nov. 20. We will attempt to broadcast this ridiculousness on multiple platforms, including our regular Vimeo platform here. And we will have even better audio this time. Next week we’ll post instructions for asking us about our underwear (or lack of it).

Boxers or briefs?
I can answer for Chris here. Briefs. He said it had something to do with gravity.
Gravity. And old age.
All I know is it’s Italian. Always Italian.
Chris? I don’t care which he wears.
You always manage to schedule the holiday Open Day for the weekend after I’m visiting Cincinnati. This is my real name and my outrage is real.
I think you should have a word with your travel agent, Kyle, if that is your real name.
It would be great if you would post a walk-through video for those of us who can’t make it to KY.
He recently did a series of tour videos. The first was posted on Sept. 23
Dec 20 is my birthday
Yikes. You just pointed out a mistake I made. We are going to do the live stream on November 20. A Saturday.
Oh come on. Don’t change the date just to screw over poor Eric.
Great, there goes my birthday present. I did think it was weird to be having a livestream on a Monday…
Thanks for holding comments to a higher standard. Generous of you to add the parenthetical caveat!
I can’t believe anyone would make a nasty comment on any blog you write. Fie on them Any upcoming chair workshops?
Who said, “If you don’t do it don’t say it”?
Could not agree more. If i had my way and I can’t of course, all anoymous commentary would be banned. We should all ask ourselves, would I say this if the person was standing in front of me? No, then why are you saying it now.
I agree, roorod4. Real names for the win!
Courage and integrity hold their head up and keep their name. Reading cowardly anonymous comments is hard to do, but easy to delete. Spelch. The open house is worth the drive. Chris, Megan and the others are friendly and generous with their time. Even though I’ve already bought most LAP books, I go to support their fine work and learn.
Calmly people, “Sticks and stones …”
Life is more fun than this!
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will hurt forever.
Here here! I greatly appreciate this. I’m “only” 31, and I own a coffee shop. Meaning I deal with a lot of people who hide behind an online alias (customers and employees and people leaving reviews) who would never say in person what they say online many times. It’s quite frustrating. I appreciate your commitment to keeping it above board. All the best.
Cheers,
Dan Williamson
The underwear comment was a hoot!
Sad to hear you are implementing an official policy of discrimination to enter your store. How come you feel the need to go along with the current medical apartheid and only serve folks who opt to take an experimental drug? Shame on you Chris.
I won’t go so far as to cast “shame” on anyone… Though I am disappointed to read that vaccination is required to enter your store. But it is your store and you are free to do with it what you will. I wouldn’t begrudge you that freedom and wish you well while hoping your position changes in the future.
I may not be able to visit anytime soon, however, I applaud your choice. There is no need to risk to the personal health of those who are able to visit your place of business, and enjoy the camaraderie. Someday we will all look back on these days as a lesson in being responsible to, with, and for others whether we know them or not.
Whats the shoes and shirt policy?
Same as the vaccine policy. Yes, please.
