I wrote about Huck towels earlier this year, so I don’t have much to add to my plea here for the Anarchist’s Gift Guide. Perhaps you were under a rock in July 2020 and missed the blog entry. Perhaps you were all ragged up at that time.
In any case, these Huck towels are my favorite rags. And now I am even more excited about them because you can buy them in different colors through Arkwright Supply. If medium blue is too boring, get some in hot pink or hunter orange – you’ll never misplace your rag again.
If you want to dive deeper into the world of Huck towels, why not visit TowelReviewer.com and find out the pros and cons of some of the different brands? (I know it’s an affiliate site – I just wish I could buy a TowelReviewer.com thong or something.)
Anyway. Huck towels. Woo hoo. Get some.

These remind me of the blue towels we use in the operating room. I assume they don’t leave fuzzies?
As long as you don’t cut the cloth, you are correct. Once you interrrupt the the Huck weave, it’s fuzzy city. And yes, these are used in operating rooms.
There’s a website that does nothing but review towels? Seriously?
It’s a clean job, but someone’s gotta do it …
Yeah, but don’t get too wrapped up in it.
I will have to give them a try for when I need a cloth rag, have been using wypall x70 which pretty much has replaced the need for cloth rags they can be used over and over and even with oil finishing.
I got some of these after seeing them in your blog. I liked them so much I got some for the kitchen. Love them.
I grabbed some after your first recommendation, and they were perfect for applying Tried and True Varnish Oil to my new workbench.
When will you announce the winners (or at least some of your honorable mentions) of the PUNishing holiday ads?
Probably Monday. I’m taking a couple days off from the publishing to get some woodworking done.
Happy day! Let’s see, 5 books plus countless blog posts in the past few months….. and you want a break? Slacker….. j/k. I love my hand tools. All started with reading handplane essentials. And my two favorite projects I’ve built are my DTC and my version of your staked desk from ADB both built this year. Thanks!
I tinkered with going into the window cleaning business for a while. huck towels were the way to go. now I use them for everything. excellent for furniture surgery.
I once befriended a guy who worked in local operating rooms. He would save the extras for shop rags, and he gave me a bunch. I still have a large bag of these and will probably never run out. But if I ever do, they’d be worth paying actual money for. I use them in the kitchen, too, for covering bread dough while it rises.
