Sorry. We sold out the 102 copies in 90 minutes….
Due to a mix-up with a wholesale order, we have a handful of copies of the first printing of “The Anarchist’s Workbench” to sell in our store. So if you missed out on the first edition, this is your chance to rectify it.
The book is $27 for the printed version or $0 for the pdf (download the free pdf here).
The second printing is in the works now. If you are a book collector, the second printing will have some physical differences (there are no significant changes to the content – just a couple typo fixes). The book will use a different interior paper and have a different diestamp on the cover. More details on the second printing will come soon.

LAP, will the cover die stamp be in white? Also if I order another copy will It be the 2nd run?
stay safe thank you Ralph
The second press run will have a white diestamp. The copies in the store now have the black diestamp.
If it was the only one of your books I had, it would be hard to find on my bookshelf. Since it is next to the the Design Book and the Tool Chest, it is easy. The diestamp blends in too much, it isn’t easy to see like the black diestamp on the Design Book. Of course, it’s what’s inside that counts!
Finally got my copy today, and I am HAPPY!!!
Thanks for wrapping the book in plastic, the box sat out in the rain for a while before coming in – shy I guess. The box was wet, not soaked, but the book is in perfect condition.
Thanks, Chris, for all your creative work.
LAP, I tried to order a 2nd run of ‘The Anarchist’s Workbench’ and can not. So that means I have to wait until when in stock, no per-order
stay safe Ralph.
And DHL delivered my copy to me here in Belgium about half a hour ago! Yay! 🙂
(It is kinda silly that as I have my orders from LAP/Crucible Tools sent on from MyUS in Florida by DHL, anything I buy from you passes through the DHL Hub in, yup, Cincinnati.)
I have already read through the pdf thrice from beginning to end, and a then re-read certain sections a couple of times more, but am looking forward to a fourth full read-through on paper in the coming days.
The 190 board feet of 8/4 hard maple that I bought in early July to build a bench from are now nicely acclimated to my workshop, and I expect to start ripping the laminates for the top sometime next week, so apart from the enjoyment aspect of fionally reading this book as a proper, well, book, it’ll also be very handy to now have this text available in a format that can live in my workshop for the duration of the build …

Mine arrived yesterday. Sorry Chris, I couldn’t contain myself and read Ch 11 first and then went to the beginning. I need a second bench in the garage as I am currently using a card table in that spot. Will be helpful to have when my 9 year old wants to woodwork with me. Probably will make out of poplar as SYP not as readily available on West Coast.
I don’t know where else to ask this. I received my copy today (love it) and am confused by one picture. What are the black lines you see on the two boards next to the notched board in the photo on page 230?
That is blue tape that I put on the laminations to try to make it easy to remove the squeeze-out inside the mortise. It didn’t work all that well so I didn’t mention it in the text (I don’t think I mentioned it in the text).
Thanks, that makes sense.
Really love the book. All the personal information really hits home. Great job and congrats on continuing to go your own way.
Just received my copy from this “Wait, we have a few” batch. Beautiful book, and the FREE bookmark is somehow very appealing as well.
