We hate being out of stock on items. Years ago one of retailers told us it was a good thing to have some items on backorder to drive up customer demand.
Screw that.
We have a few items that are not in stock right now. Here is an update. Our vests and chore coats are now being stitched at Sew Valley. We had to order more moleskin from England (it just arrived) and stitching work on the coats is proceeding now. I don’t have a date when the vests will be ready, but the coats should be back in stock next week.
We also are out of “The Solution at Hand.” It was supposed to ship to us this week, but the printer lost the diestamp for the cover and now we have to make a new one. So the books should ship out from the warehouse the week of Jan. 16.
We also are waiting for the expanded edition of “The Anarchist’s Design Book,” which should ship later this month. (So there is still some time to order a pre-publication copy of that book and receive a free pdf download of the book. Once the book is in stock, the pdf will cost you extra.)
All of our Crucible Tools are in stock – whew. That was my biggest personal accomplishment of 2019.
And finally, we have a book in stock that I thought we were sold out of. We have 47 copies of the historical reprint of “The Joiner and Cabinet Maker” – a cute and nice $12 book. I miscounted how many we had left last month and removed the product from the store. Our warehouse pointed out my mistake (thanks, guys).

No more line for lump hammers? What are people supposed to bitch about?
No birdhouse book in the LAP catalogue.
I tried to come up with a pithy response, but I keep coming around to I’m never as good as crowd sourced trolls.
If you make something idiot proof, the world will build a better idiot…
Crowd sourced trolls sounds almost as fun as a troll flash mob.
Crowd Sourced Trolls, might be a name for a punk rock band…
But the fools caught it,
Wore it in the worlds eyes
We don’t sell embroidered lack-a-dacky.
How many moles must be senselessly slaughtered so that we can look cool? Is the Solution at Hand a good book to help make the appliances discussed in ATC?
Um, zero. And yes.
Great thanks. I have probably 80% of the tools in the list now, but none of the appliances. So would like to start on those. Just started reading Joiner and Cabinetmaker, maybe when I am done with that the other book will be back in stock.
And also at least a new die stamp is being made, don’t want a repeat of the sandvik scraper machine fiasco.
Just curious…. I haven’t been lurking around here for a while, so I might have missed it. I did a search but did not find an answer. My question is if Crucible Tools is still making the dividers? Thanks for your time and consideration.
We are not. We were losing money on every set. We might revisit the design at a later date.
Shame. I missed that announcement (if there was one). Hopefully you can redesign them and make each profitable.
Pity about us rightpondians…
We are not able to preorder and get the free PDF. My guess is that it might just be worth it even with added shipping and customs duty on it. But here in Krautland is only one company carrying the LAP books, and not even all of them (I believe).
If you use a mail forwarding service, such as MyUS.com or similar (no I don’t work for them), then you can preorder and order everything you like from the LAP store. I live not far from Krautland myself and have done this several times. It doesn’t cost anything/much and is hassle free.
If you already own the original version of the ADB, you can get the PDF by itself for free. Details elsewhere on this blog, just do a quick search for Anarchist’s Design Book. Limited time offer. I need to do it myself, actually…
Any chance the divider logo hat will ever make a return?
We would like that. Our vendor corrupted our embroidery file, which is why we had to take it off the market. It’s just about making the time to get a new embroidery file made…..
So glad to hear more vests are in the works. I missed out on the first batch.
Your counting skills aren’t much better than Sams. Thankfully you have a Thomas or two to balance it all out.
Is there any chance Roy Underhill is working on a new book?
Roy has some book ideas that we discussed when he visited last year. Not sure if they have progressed past the idea stage, however.
Well, he has my full support. I’ve read all of his books and loved them.
