Today I spent some time with the crew (OK, Brian and his mom) at Steamwhistle Letterpress as the pair worked through the second day of pressing our forthcoming construction print of “The Anarchist’s Tool Chest.”
If all goes well, we should have the 1,000 prints by Monday. Then I’ll sign them, we’ll get them to Indianapolis for fulfillment and then put them on the website. When I know the date they will go on sale (for $20 each, which includes domestic shipping), I’ll post it here.
If you are in England or Europe and want this poster, send a note to Classic Hand Tools. They will be selling part of our stock of these prints (these will be signed as well). We might have another international retailer on board with these posters. So stay tuned.
The posters look fantastic. And watching the press is mesmerizing, so I shot this short film of Brian and his mom in action.

What a great little video. I’m so glad I got to be part of this. Thanks for keeping me in mind Chris, it was a blast to draw.
Aww, I’m in Australia and feeling very left out. Can I baggsie one anyway? I’ll be your best friend…
I used to teach desktop publishing with Adobe PageMaker to high school students and I always enjoyed watching the letterpress at Yee Haw in Knoxville, Tennessee. I wanted to take my students there on a field trip but field trips for high school computer classes where hard to come by. Neat stuff.
Do you know what kind of press that is. I’m thinking not a Heidelberg and not a Chandler-Price which begs the question!
Vandercook 425 proofing press.
Very nice. I was thinking it may be a Vander but never saw enough to convince me. I may have to purchase a print.
How about your peaceable neighbours to the north here?
Working on it. We have no way to ship directly to Canada without charging $100 apiece for these. But we should have news on Monday.
