While some critics put my work on par with cat poo, few have ever considered that my work could actually contain and control feline fecal matter.
But reader John Notis of Portland, Ore., is a visionary.
While he prefers a wall cabinet for his woodworking tools, he took the basics from “The Anarchist’s Tool Chest” to make this litter box. It is impressive. (The only thing more impressive would be to get one’s cats to defecate in a wall cabinet.)
I hope my wife does not see this post or I know what I will be building next week.

Perhaps we could do an Anarchists Bird House?
What do you think about the pooper scooper storage? I really would have preferred to see more thought given to that. Maybe a sliding till or a purpose built rack against the inside face of the chest. While we’re at it, why not French fit?
PS, I hope the sarcasm doesn’t get me banned.
Next up, the Roubo Scratching Post.
Already got one. Also known as a workbench. (The only piece of wood furniture they claw, thank goodness!)
Wow! a veritable chateauneuf du poop.
Hmm… My cat IS an anarchist..
As are all cats.
To me it looks more like a six-boarded chest of necessity.
I think you mean “chest of necesshity”
Too claustrophobic for my cats. They prefer pleine aire poopin’. I suspect they were brought up wrong.
I have 3 cats, each wit own box. Not visibly marked. Each puss will use only a particular box, even if moved to different order!
Nice detail on the legs. Is that tool tray a sliding till?
“On par with cat poo”? You’ve managed to reach people beyond typical woodworking circles. I suppose that these same critics would prefer that the “lost arts” become truly lost?
Don’t sell your cat short: build an accompanying Roubo Book Stand… everybody’s gotta have some reading material while dropping off the goods.
Me thinks you will be building one in the future.
Sheer Sacrilege!
Yeah, but does it have a Kleenex dispenser?
No. Nor does it have flowers painted on it. So….
I love the design, but vets like me make a significant amount of money off covered cat boxes because the cat won’t use them.
