In one word: Charlie.
We will let furniture maker Christopher Scott explain:
“This was the work of my workshop dog Charlie, a curly retriever x lab. I have to admit this book not only got read by Charlie, but it may have been thrown across the backyard toward him I after I found it sans cover. Not a page loose.”
— Christopher Schwarz
I hope LAP sends him a new free copy for the great PR?
Charlie is clearly not a libertarian.
Dogs actually love the book because of the first line: Disobey me.
Charlie is clearly not a librarian.
And if you know a book binder, or have book binding as another hobby, then the book is extremely repairable. Looks like it just needs the remains of the old cover removed and a new one sewn and glued on.
Whew! I thought I was in trouble.
Maybe Charlie was pissed that his loving master was spending more time with that square paper thing than with him and decided to either see what was so special, or, more sinisterly, take out the competition. Duhn, duhn duuuuhn. (That sinister music for those wondering.)
Ah… “Wives Against Chris Schwarz” strikes again!
They’re getting crafty, using trained dogs doubling as man’s “best friend” to administer their retribution.
Is this covered by a warranty? It sure looks like some of the product returns that I am asked to provide credit for!
I had a dog that had a taste for literature as well–I always wondered if it was the (hide?) glue that was used on binding. Calls to mind a saying I heard was Texan in origin: “Ya give ’em books and ‘ya give ’em books, and all they do is chew on the covers!”
What is case bound as opposed to any other bound? Surely LAP books are of high quality (both physically and literarily) but you keep on talking to us like you think we know what you’re talking about. I don’t know what smythe (sp?) sewn means (my mom was great at sewing) and I’m not going to pretend I do. Love the books. Love that they’re printed in USA. Heck, I love you, too!
Daniel,
Good point. We should do a video that demonstrates how our books are built. I’ll put that on the to-do list.
You need this guy to help you out;
