3. If you are planning on picking up your pre-ordered copy of “To Make as Perfectly as Possible” at Woodworking in America (or perhaps buy a copy at the show), please stop by the Lost Art Press booth at noon on Saturday, Oct. 19.
We will have many of the people involved with the project available to chat about the book and sign your copy. We’re not sure how long the event will run — it depends on how many people show up and what other obligations the authors, translators, etc. have.
Soon we also will be announcing details of a book-release party on Thursday, Oct. 17, at a local Cincinnati restaurant. We’re still running some numbers.
Sign up for Woodworking in America, Oct. 18-20. I mean come on, do you really need to weed the garden that weekend?

I have learned very recently that Michele is unable to join us at the book signing (I am aware of a previous commitment, unfortunately forgotten during the intervening months, and support her in this decision despite how deeply we will miss her company at WIA), but Philippe and I will be there alongside Wesley and Chris with our pens at the ready! Amazingly, in this age of telecommunications, Philippe and I were chatting on the phone last week and despite very close collaboration on the project over the recent years we think this may be the first time in more that a decade that we have been together in person. We are excited at the chance to visit with those of you who have been so supportive of our work thus far, and we hope for that interest to continue over the coming years as we continue to unpack the magnificent riches of Roubo. If you ask nicely I am certain that Philippe will regale you with tales from his years at Ecole Boulle, where he was trained as a classical French chairmaker.

PS Michele send me the very last section of translation for R2 last night. That locomotive — “Roubo on Furniture Making” — is picking up steam!
