This was taken during French Oak Roubo project for the Highland Woodworker show. I am disgustingly dirty, sweaty and wearing some nasty shorts.
Judging from the camera angle, it’s a good thing I didn’t wear a miniskirt to the shop that day.

We are glad you didn’t wear them that day too Chris.
Yup. Nothing like a full-on sasquatch with your morning coffee.
Good. I feel less jealous now about not being part of that great project.
I suspect the entire week had an olfactory aspect as well as visual…
We all were sweaty, disgusting, smelly and dirty. It was GLORIOUS!!
I am not much into haute couture, but even I was surprised at how grungy we got that week. My t-shirts of that week are apparently all permanently stained by the toxic brew of acrid sweat and tannins from the oak. The shadows of staining remain even after several washings as a proud and permanent(?) reminder of the experience. Fortunately the work space was open wide to the outside air or the pungence would have been truly noteworthy.
You know, the way the camera kept moving back and forth, it’s like they were trying to get a peek at your goods. Hope the camera operator was female.
The camera operator was a Roomba.
It would have been cooler.
Just wondering if there would EVER be a good day for you to wear a miniskirt to the shop.
I suspect I know the answer…
You’re more aware of things like that when you wear unbifurcated garments, Chris. I suspect (or at least hope?) you would have asked for a different camera angle, or crossed your legs, had you a skirt (or a kilt) on.
Are you going to write an article about your adventure building your French oak Roubo?
Regarding kilts, being an active (and sweaty) guy, I’ve often looked at kilts with admiration, wishing that I could pull off the look. They have a number of benefits, #1 for me being “breathability.”
Try bib overalls. They have great breathability.
I am just thankful that we were not treated to the male version of the Sharon Stone interrogation scene from “Basic Instinct.” I second the kilted woodworker’s comments regarding camera angle.
I have learned a lot from reading your blog. This time I got a good laugh.
Is that the early, wooden, version of a “tank buster” which makes a brief appearance on the right side of the frame? Like the little benchs your sitting on as well….Simple, clean design….Camera angle is a little distressing though…
