Years ago I had a shop apron made by CanvasGoods, a small company run by David McMullen. It was my favorite apron, and I wore it all the time and during my first videos with Lie-Nielsen Toolworks.
The problem was that McMullen closed down CanvasGoods shortly after that. I was getting so many questions about that apron that I had to stop wearing it – I was tired of answering questions about the apron and explain how you couldn’t buy one.
Then some reader sweet-talked me into borrowing my apron so he could make one like it for himself. That was four years ago. I’m still waiting….
If you ever wanted one of these aprons, the original maker has dug out about 50 or so that were in storage and put them up for sale on eBay for $39.95. If you cannot afford an apron from Artifact Bag Co., these are an outstanding choice.
Act quickly. Once they are gone, they are gone.

Only 10 left at 11:20 PST. I am taken back a bit at the idea of a white apron. My shop is too full of grease, smoke and blood (tree and craftsman alike) to maintain a spotless garment.
I am still after one of the denim Artifact Bag Company aprons. I have a picture of my Opa wearing one of those denim types at his lathe over a white T shirt circa 1955. (he was a machinist, not a turner and anyone who says otherwise…)
They don’t stay white for long…
I got mine Chris. They only had 9 left so if they want one they had better hurry.
The look gone, but another lot is for sale by the same seller.
Chris, I just got a new apron from Filson in Seattle that, according to their sales staff, was manufactured onsite at their Seattle store. I personally watched many of their items being produced in their Seattle factory (attached to the rear of the store) through a window in the back of their showroom. It looks a lot like the one in your picture, but is heavy duty tincloth, and has buckles on the neck strap, the waist strap, and on each each leg strap. Also appears to be less expensive than the Artifact Bag Company aprons. It’s well made with good quality materials, and from the looks and feel of it, it will probably outlive me. If anyone is interested, here is a link to it: http://www.filson.com/products/tin-cloth-utility-apron.30000.html. And no, I have no affiliation with Filson, other than enjoying their high quality American made products.
