Typically, we don’t accept a shipment of books at Lost Art Press unless there is a tornado in the area – or at least a thunderstorm or torrential rain.
But this morning a truck dropped off the fourth printing of “The Anarchist’s Tool Chest” in my driveway. The sun is shining. My tarps are all put away. My insides are unsettled.
We have now printed 12,000 copies of “The Anarchist’s Tool Chest,” and – thanks to our customers – this book has made quitting my job at Popular Woodworking Magazine an easy transition. So thank you.
We should be getting our shipment of “Mouldings in Practice” next Monday. The forecast shows only a 10 percent chance of rain. Weird.
A quick reminder: Free shipping for “Mouldings in Practice” ends at midnight Wednesday. So if you want to save $6, order before then.

So looking forward to next week!! Since this coming Sunday is my birthday I bought myself a copy of Mouldings in Practice.
Hi Chris, having read The Anarchists Tool Chest, do you intend to publish Mouldings in Practice in the UK. Thanks in advance.
Neil,
The book should be available through Classic Hand Tools and Axminster in the coming months.
Classic Hand Tools are currently taking advance orders for ‘Mouldings in Practice’.
Excellent news, thank you
It makes me nervous seeing cans of Gasoline so close to treasured books
I think it is Fahrenheit 451 syndrome
Glad you made the choice that you did so more great books will be saved and created!!
I just finished reading The Anarchists Tool Chest, and I enjoyed it so much I am re-reading it immediately. I will be encouraging others to read it too. Thanks Chris. Great book.
Between this and your Bismark sized benchtop, things must be a touch crowded at LAP?
Is that a custom made book box opening knife there? Is it single bevel, or dual bevel? And what is the length on the blade? Do you utilize the whole edge, or do you just sharpen and use the tip?
You forgot the most important question! What steel is it? I prefer A2 for opening boxes, but have been considering getting a new blade with powdered metal. Thoughts?
I’m guessing it’s a Henckels letter opener also used by many as a steak knife.
You may be able to get the mid-west farmers (or USDA) to pay for publishing and delivery of all the books you want, if you can really “deliver” on the correlation of rainfall to shipments.
I was batting 1.000 until today.
Thanks for making a great product and putting out drm free epub’s. I love lost art press for that.
-James
We dislike DRM on other products, so I can’t imagine having it on our own products.
My back is complaining just looking at all those boxes. Anyway, any chance of some of these flying to Australia?
David Eckert at Lie-Nielsen Australia carries “The Anarchist’s Tool Chest.” You might send him a message about carrying “Mouldings in Practice” if you are interested in that title.
Thanks for the info, contact made 🙂
What is the best use of a kitchen knife?
contestant #1 “cutting steak !?!”
show host ” Owww, I’m sorry, the answer we were looking for is………, opening boxes”
I’m glad that you quitting Pop Wood has worked out. I appreciate what you’re doing, and I’m sure it was a bit of a leap of faith. You are the only publisher I know of who has yet to put out a product that I’m not interested in buying. Taunton, Fox Chapel, etc… sure, they have more titles, but they aren’t of the same quality or interest to me. You keep up the good work and I’ll be happy to keep supporting you :0)
I think you need to re-deck your back porch; or someone moving those books will take a straight shot to the basement.
What’s with the petrol cans. You gonna have a book burning party?
