The shows from the latest season of Roy Underhill’s “The Woodwright’s Shop” can now be viewed online for free through this link.
What, you are still here and reading my crap? Click the link and get over there and watch all 13 episodes. That’s more than six hours of Roy, with less than an hour of my drivel on planes and the Anarchist’s Square. Plus great episodes with Peter Follansbee, Bill Anderson, Peter Ross and Steve Latta. And five glorious minutes with Megan “Chopped Liver” Fitzpatrick.

I mean, like, so what the heck? There’s nothing to see here. Would it chase you away faster if I talked about the weather? Maybe if I posted another stupid quotation? It’s Roy for gosh durn sake. Click here.
Oh I give up.

By the way, the description of the show on planing is so ridiculously wrong it makes me wee my wee panties. The real name of the show is: “The 12-step Program to Break Your Addiction to Smoothing Planes.”
Underwho? Never heard of him. lol
Blasphemer.
I support the quotes, btw.
Speaking of the Anarchist’s Square, I am curious as to the (suspected, conjectured, assumed) purpose of the curlicues at the joints and the ends of the Anarchist’s Square.
I have truly enjoyed every episode of The Woodwright’s Shop but two weeks ago I had the pleasure of traveling to Pittsboro NC to spend a day in the shop with Roy for his dovetail and mortise and tenon class. What a great day. I learned more and laughed more than I ever have in the shop. He is a wealth of knowledge that I hope more people can have the chance to take advantage of in person. His school is a great step back in time and the tool store above was a great step back for my wallet. If anyone else has the chance to attend a class at The Woodwright’s School I highly recommend it. As a bonus the backdoor of the school opens into a bar and the show continues after the class over an ice cold brew.
One more feature that makes my new Christmas Kindle Fire so awesome.
I can watch the episodes of Roy on it. I couldn’t do that on my iPad. Win for Kindle!
love that man!
Would be nice if the techie that loaded the vids would get them right. The “As the Saw Turns” is a repeat of the Ruobo. And at least Megan knows when to apply a plaster when she’s getting thin skinned, unlike Roy who likes using that natural red stain all over the place. Overall, these shows are great for showing kids what is possible with hand work in a pre-technological world. None of them impress me as being truly craftsman caliber, but then maybe they’re not meant to be. Sorry Chris.
Roy Underhill using a futuristic Buck Rogers plane?
Is there any hope that past shows — other than the last 4 seasons that we can watch on-line although last year has vanished for the moment — will EVER be available for view or purchase? I suspect the PBS station that produces these shows only has 6 people working there in the tech dept. so we should perhaps be happy to get anything, but there are many of us out here who would pay actual money for a complete series or the like but questions sent to the PBS station on this topic go unanswered. Perhaps our friends at Lost Art Press might be able to ask Mr. Roy if such may ever be possible…..? We wait in hope….
Apparently there were a few VHS tapes released in the mid-1990’s but I’ve never seen one in the wild or captivity.
My theory is that one year when fundraising was down, UNC-TV burned all the masters to keep warm, and now they’re too embarrassed to admit it.
I agree – I would gladly pay for the DVD of the entire 30+ years
Nelson, you can view the previous season by typing in the web address directly. The links are funky at the moment.
