As soon as I figure out how to get my chest out of the shop and into my wife’s Honda I am headed to Waterloo, Ontario, for the opening of Lee Valley’s newest retail store.
Want details? Here’s a post about the event. There’s also lots of other excellent craftsmen demonstrating there this weekend, so do stop by if you are in the neighborhood.
Note to the U.S. Customs Agents: This photo shows that my tool chest went across the border with me on Wednesday. Just sayin’.

P.S. This also means that I won’t be answering much e-mail until after I return and get through Woodworking in America. So if you have a customer emergency, e-mail John Hoffman at john@lostartpress.com.
Good luck with customs!
Remember, not a word about anarchy!
I think you might like the Lion Brewery in Waterloo: http://www.huetherhotel.com/huetherhotel/index.php?content=beerlist. Food is average but the beer is great.
Chris, do you know about the Lacy Act. Be sure you tell those people (you know the ones) that your plane totes and handles are just plain old pine with a special one of a kind stain. Nothing exotic in here.
I don’t think the totes will multiply at an accelerated rate due to their lack of natural predators. Chris ended up at Lee Valley, where the hand plane is definitely in the preverbal food-chain!
Chris, thanks for making the trip up to Waterloo. While I like to think it was exclusively to sign my copy of the ATC, well, let’s end the thought there. You are an inspiration to many beginner woodworkers, like myself and it was good to meet you, however brief our meeting was.
